Shamwari Game Reserve

Our Opinion...

Steeped in Settler history, and dating back to the time when a multitude of game roamed wild and free, the 20 000 hectare reserve boasts five eco-systems and accommodation ranging from refined elegance to traditional African authenticity. The 6 luxurious lodges of Shamwari will entice, enchant and overwhelm you with true South African hospitality.

Spoilt for choice, guests will undoubtedly be looked after with uncompromising service whether you choose to stay in the manor house to recapture the old colonial days or enjoy a more adventurous atmosphere in a lodge or cottage. All accommodations are beautifully and tastefully decorated to reflect their own personal era and style portraying elegance, unadultered luxury and a truly traditional African experience.

At Shamwari you will be guaranteed the experience of learning and enjoying the very best that African wildlife viewing can offer. From early morning game drives before dawn, where blankets and mugs of hot coffee are on offer, to the thrill of seeing the eyes and forms of nights first nocturnal animals, you will be left captivated and enthralled. As your ranger takes you back to your lodge where a drink in the bar with fellow travellers, amid cheerful recollections of the day's discoveries is followed either by another great meal expertly prepared by the chefs, or a barbecue next to a roaring fire. Finally, a hot shower and a well-earned sleep.
