Silhouette Island Lodge

Our Opinion... an adventurer’s dream. With many exciting and exhilarating walks through untamed, subtropical forest, it is perfect for guests wishing to explore and experience the mysteries of a primitive island.

Prices From: Closed until June 2007

Regretfully, Silhouette Island Lodge will be closing from January 15th 2005 for a period of approximately 18 months.

Full details of the new Lodge will be posted on this website as soon as the details become available.

Silhouette Island towers out of the ocean just 19 miles off the north-west coast of Mahé. As the third largest, second highest (Mont Dauban reaching a height of over 740 metres) and the steepest island of the Seychelles archipelago, Silhouette Island is both dramatic and strangely beautiful.

Formed over sixty three million years ago, the island’s granite rocks are the remains of Gondwana, the ancient supercontinent. On the mountain tops one can still see the flora and fauna that coexisted with the dinosaurs, whilst at beach level the local expert will guide you around the walks and pathways that lead off to the distant beaches.

There are seven main attraction sites within the island that can be explored with the guidance of mapped trails, ranging from half an hour to six hours in duration. Lightweight strong walking shoes are recommended for this.

Surrounded by a protective coral reef, the island offers sheltered swimming and snorkelling opportunities and for certified divers, there is a fully equipped dive centre available, offering a variety of long and short-range dives.

Transfer Time: From Mahé by helicopter approx. 20 minutes.
